AMISFIELD WINES
Although Amisfield boasts a stunning restaurant and picturesque vineyard on the doorstep of the Arrowtown, their wines actually come from their large 200 hectare estate beneath the Pisa Mountain near Cromwell Basin. Of that, 80 hectares are planted as one single vineyard making it the largest in Central Otago.
Planted by John Darby in the late eighties, Amisfield today produces sort after Pinot Noir Rose, Pinot Noirs, Sauvignon Blancs, Rieslings, Pinot Gris and Chenin Blancs from a state-of-the-art winery that produces nearly 30,000 cases of wine per year!
Lonely Planet Wine Trails describes Amisfield as “… an essential stop for gourmands and vinophiles visiting Central Otago – arguably the region’s ultimate winery experience.” The award-winning restaurant sits alongside the tasting room and is built in a modern Central Otago style of recycled timber and local schist. One of our favourites for a long lunch on a summers day with too much Rosé!!
